Tumzee
Tumzee Tummy Time Seat has been recommended by doctors, occupational therapists and physical therapists for the development of fine and gross motor skills. Spending "tummy time" encourages babies to push upwards, therefore developing strong shoulders, arms and hand muscles needed for grasping and reaching.
Tumzee Tummy Time Seat reduces the frustration sometimes experienced by babies who do not normally enjoy being on their stomach. Babies should always sleep on their backs to reduce the risk of SIDS, however it is often recommended that they spend time to decrease the risk of positional Plagiocephaly.
Using age-appropriate toys within reach (as shown in the videos below) will often encourage tummy time positioning. Do not leave your baby unattended. Some experts suggest 30 minutes of tummy time a day for infants- you should always consult your pediatrician.
Tumzee is designed for babies age birth to crawling age. The "T" support prevents babies from sliding out. The gentle incline props the baby up for a better view of the environment and development of neck/back muscles. Made of soft Polypropylene and EVA foam, the Tumzee is easy to clean and comfortable. The antibacterial surface can be easily wiped clean. Unlike foam pillows, the Tumzee will always maintain the proper shape!
MY OPINION
Tummy time is a struggle for EVERY baby, this small foam wedge is a saving grace for parents! Tumzee makes tummy time easy and fun. Instead of face planting their toys they have easy access too them, it also puts them on a slight angle which I believe is more comforting the child. I received the green tumzee but they are available in a slew of other colors. It has a pad to lay down and a strap that goes across the childs back for ensured safety. One of my favorite things is how easy it is to clean! Often times tummy time brings spit up. It wipes clean with a simple baby wipe!
I wish I would have known about this when I was a nanny and having to do tummy time daily with some not so happy crying babies. All in all, this is such an amazing product, and my new go to baby shower gift! Way to go, Tumzee, this is one stellar product!
