Lina Zeenie Doll

Have you been in the doll isle lately? I had to go this weekend to pick up a last minute gift for my cousin and there was not just one isle but three…Three! I was beyond lost as I stumbled up and down three isles of dolls trying to pick out the perfect one. What qualifies a doll to be picked? Style? Current trends? Prices? Educational qualities? Durability?

What about environmentally friendly? 

You are probably careful when picking out toys to make sure that they aren’t going to pose a choking hazard or other common safety issues, but do you read the label of what your child’s toy is made from? Do you check for synthetic chemicals and heavy metals?

This is one of the many reasons I love the Zeenie Dollz. They are an eco-friendly line of 12″ dolls made entirely from recyclable materials. They are a plastic #1 (1, 2,4 and 5 are considered safe and eco-friendly). Even the packaging is made of biodegradable plastic material. Each eco-warrior fashionista has 12 ball joints making them more flexible and posable than the average doll, along with an environmental purpose!

The concept and mission behind Zeenie Dollz started with a sketch by Hansini Wadhwani, the creator, designer and inventor of the series. Hansini showed her mother, Laxmi Wadhwani, the first sketch of a girl with flowing blue hair and explained that her persona was that of Mother Earth. This mother-daughter duo have worked together through every step of the creative process to take a beautiful sketch, a meaningful cause, and a passion for the environment, to merge it into the Zeenie Dollz series.

The six dolls in the Zeenie Dollz series are:

Lina: Defender of the Rain forest and Defender against Deforestation. She works to save amphibians and mammals that inhabit the rain forests as they continue to be affected by deforestation. Her mission is to preserve our rain forests and keep the planet thriving.

I received the Lina doll for the purpose of this review.

Evee: Protector of the Skies and Defender against Pollution. Evee is passionate about keeping our air clean and our birds healthy. She is determined to educate others on ways to reduce pollution in order to keep the air we breathe fresh and clean.

Zennia: Mother Earth. The special edition doll, and the first in the series, embodies Mother Earth, the protector of our planet. As the giver and sustainer of life on earth, Zennia is passionate about combating the evil anti-environment villains that threaten to destroy our world.

Sini: Overseer of Farmland and Defender of Mistreated and Abused Animals. Sini devotes her time to guarding farmland and abused animals that need our help. Farmland is diminishing because of land development and this is an area that greatly needs protection. She also wants to increase awareness about mistreated animals since they do not have a voice to speak for themselves.

Yana: Protector of the Oceans and Defender of Marine Conservation. Yana is a huge supporter of keeping our oceans protected. She is passionate about the marine life that populates the deep blue sea and works to put an end to over fishing and ocean pollution.

Kazumi: Guardian of the Polar Regions and Defender against Global Warming. Kazumi loves everything about the snowy Polar Regions, including the animals that live there. She wants to raise awareness about climate change and the impact it has on our environment and our animals.

What is also neat about the Zeenie Dollz is that a percentage of every sale is donated to organizations working to preserve the environment and protect all animals and the places they live.
